Abandoned by All I Took It All Back novel Chapter 371

The sliding door to the kitchen was closed, and with the range hood humming, the people inside didn't notice anyone had arrived.

When the door slid open, Finch’s figure appeared in their line of sight.

“You’re here! Come in, have a seat. I’m showing off my skills for you all today,” Finch said, holding a spatula and wearing an apron, looking every bit the doting partner.

“Sounds great! We girls will have a good chat while you’re slaving away in here. Thanks for all your hard work!” Wendy said with a smile.

“Go on, go on. Take them on a tour of the new place,” Finch said, still sautéing, motioning for Wendy to go entertain her friends.

“Okay.” Wendy did a quick turn around the kitchen and then headed out.

She then led her three friends on a tour of her new home.

“Not bad, not bad at all. The layout and decor are fantastic, and the style is very upscale.”

Maggie thought the apartment was more than enough for Wendy to live in alone.

She glanced toward the kitchen and asked, “So, are you two living together?”

Wendy shook her head. “Not yet, but soon. We plan to move in together once everything is set up.”

It was essentially a trial marriage. They hadn't spent much time together, mostly just having dinner and taking walks after work, chatting.

She was almost twenty-eight, not some girl in her early twenties with years to waste on testing a relationship.

If they spent two or three years testing the waters and then broke up after realizing they weren't compatible, she’d be thirty.

Ultimately, she would be the one at a disadvantage.

She used to be against living together before marriage because she was young. But now…

Maybe she just longed for a warm home of her own.

“So where did Finch live before this? Does he have a place in Clayborne City?” Janina asked.

Wendy thought for a moment and shook her head. “He just came back from abroad not long ago. He’s been living in the company dorms.”

“Looks like there’s no microwave in the kitchen.”

“Right, and a dryer. A dryer is a lifesaver, especially in the winter.”

“I think you definitely need a bigger vanity. That’s a necessity for any woman.”

Her friends chimed in one after another, and in just a few minutes, they had a whole list of items planned out.

Wendy watched them in silence, her heart filled with emotion and gratitude.

She felt the urge to cry but managed to hold back the tears.

When she’d told her parents she was buying an apartment, her mother hadn’t been happy. Instead, she had lectured her.

“You’re a girl. You’re going to get married someday. Let the man buy the house. Why would you waste your money on that? You should save that money to help your brother, Baron Clifford, get married. You’re his older sister; you have to help him. When your father and I are gone, Baron will be the only family you have left from our side.”

Those words had felt suffocating to Wendy.
