Abandoned by All I Took It All Back novel Chapter 390

But that didn’t make sense. Every time she had asked him for money, he had given it to her. He was always generous with the women he dated; none of them could ever say he was stingy. What was Marjorie trying to pull?

“Don’t be in such a hurry. You’ll find out soon enough why I brought you here.” Marjorie sat down in a nearby chair and crossed her legs. She took a cigarette from its pack, placed it between her lips, and lit it.

Clark watched, stunned. “You… when did you start smoking? You never used to smoke!”

“Heh. That’s right. I didn’t smoke or drink. I was a good girl. A little spoiled and materialistic, sure, but at least I was healthy. Can you guess why I suddenly turned out like this?” Marjorie sneered, her expression instantly turning cold. “Why do you think? It’s because of you! It’s all your fault! You ruined my life!” Her voice rose with each word, thick with fury.

Seeing her twisted, bizarre smile, Clark still didn’t understand what she meant. Could she have had a mental breakdown after their breakup?

Fearing she might do something crazy, Clark dared not provoke her further. He remembered seeing a news story online just last night about a wife who had castrated her cheating husband, and a shiver ran through him. After all, he had cheated on her, and that was what led to their breakup. Thinking back, Marjorie’s personality had changed drastically right after they separated. Had she really lost her mind and was now seeking revenge?

“Marj, honey, just calm down. I… I actually do love you. Ever since we broke up, I haven’t been able to eat or sleep. I’ve wanted to get back together with you so many times, but I was too ashamed to face you. That’s why I never came to find you.” When it came to lying, the words just flowed out of him.

Clark was trying to paint himself as a lovesick victim, hoping to soften Marjorie up and get her to let him go. He’d just been at a bar when someone called him outside. The moment he stepped out, someone covered his mouth and nose, and the next thing he knew, he woke up here. They had hung him from the ceiling before cutting him down just ten minutes ago. His entire body ached.

The sight of his agony only seemed to excite Marjorie more. She glanced at one of the bodyguards standing nearby. The man understood and retrieved a pair of scissors from a shelf, handing them to her.

“All of you, get out. And keep an eye on him,” Marjorie ordered, referring to West.

The bodyguards followed her command, exiting the room and closing the door behind them.

“Wasn’t that fun?” Marjorie crouched down, grabbing Clark’s chin and forcing his head up. A wicked smile played on her lips. “That was for the gift you gave me. Now, how should I return the favor?”
