Easton’s usually gentle face was now clouded with a frosty glare.
Though he was typically calm, slow to anger, and easygoing, all the Holt siblings respected him deeply. They knew that beneath his strict exterior was a profound love for them. In turn, their respect for their eldest brother ran deep.
Seven scrambled up from the ground, a guilty grin plastered on his face.
“Hey, Easton… Summer. You guys, uh, just keep doing what you were doing. I was just… taking a leak. I’ll head back now.”
With that, Seven bolted.
The others hiding in the back didn’t dare make a sound, terrified of being discovered.
Just as they thought they were in the clear, an abrupt phone ringtone shattered the silence.
“Who’s there?” Easton’s gaze shot toward the source of the sound.
Then, emerging from the darkness, he saw them—
One head.
Two heads.
Five heads…
Easton was speechless. They had seen his entire confession!
Before he could react, the group scrambled to their feet and vanished into the night.
Summer walked over and gently patted Easton’s arm. “They were probably hiding there from the start. It’s okay. They would have found out sooner or later.”
Easton turned to her, his cold expression instantly softening. He wasn't worried about being teased; he was worried Summer would be embarrassed.
It seemed he had overthought things. Summer was so open-minded she didn't seem to mind at all.
