Maggie looked at Wendy's pale face, her heart aching. "Wendy, Finch hasn't made his move yet. Ask him to come to the hospital. Say you want to discuss the plans to go abroad with him."
"Yes, yes! Lure him here so we can get our revenge."
Melody cracked her knuckles, eager to give that monster a beating.
Wendy nodded, picked up her phone from the bedside table, and called Finch.
The phone rang for a long time, but no one answered.
"He's probably busy plotting how to screw Wendy over. If he's not picking up, send a text. I'll be the one to lure him out," Janina said, looking at Wendy with a dangerous curve to her lips.
Wendy handed her phone to Janina, implicitly agreeing to whatever her friends decided to do to Finch.
Using Wendy's phone, Janina sent Finch a text message.
[Don't be mad. Come to the hospital now. We need to talk about our trip to Dawnhaven.] She added the hospital's address at the end.
It was phrased to sound like Wendy was yielding to him.
Less than a minute later, Finch replied with a single word: [OK!]
Janina held up the phone. "Melody, you'll be the lookout at the door. We'll rough him up first, and once he's had enough, we'll hand him over to the police."
Melody pouted. "But what if I want to hit him too?"
Maggie's lips twitched. "That's easy. After we've had our turn, you can come in and land a few more blows. As long as you don't kill him, you can hit him however you want."
Melody flashed an OK sign. "That son of a bitch. I'm going to knock his teeth out."
Janina beckoned the others closer. "I have a plan, and I need everyone's cooperation. First, we'll get Finch... then we'll... like this... and like that..."
Maggie's and Melody's eyes lit up instantly.
With everyone in agreement, Janina immediately sent a text to Kenneth, asking for his help.
West, who had been listening to the women's revenge plot while planning to leave, decided to stay.
Curious, Janina and Melody peeked out the door and saw doctors and nurses rushing around with grim expressions.
People from other rooms were also standing at their doors, murmuring among themselves.
"Hey, what's wrong with those nurses? They're running up and down the halls."
"I don't know, but it looks like something big is happening. See, all the doctors from the department are out here. I saw them running upstairs."
"Didn't you just hear the nurse yelling about someone jumping? It's probably a dispute with the hospital!"
"Who's jumping? And at night, too. Sounds like they're serious about dying."
"I think it's someone from room 909 on our floor."
Janina, who was about to go back into the room, froze when she heard "room 909."
Isn't that Jamie's room?
