Abandoned by All I Took It All Back novel Chapter 524

The officer tapped the table, his expression stern. “So, to punish him, you bought rats and snakes?”

Janina quickly explained, “The rats were just field mice, and the snakes weren’t venomous. Even if they had attacked him, Finch wouldn’t have been seriously harmed.”

It was true. If they had used anything poisonous, Finch would be dead, and they would be murderers. The plan was only to scare him, to let him feel the terror of being bitten and swarmed, not to kill him.

The officer stared at the women, his face a mask of disbelief. Their audacity was beyond anything he had imagined. “And the dog? His backside is torn to shreds.”

His eyes were locked on Janina, practically daring her. Go on, keep spinning your story. Let’s see how far you can take it.

Janina and the others exchanged a glance, trying to suppress their turmoil.

She took a deep breath and continued her explanation.

“We pulled him out of the pit. My dog, Molly, must have thought he was a threat and attacked him. She went wild, and I couldn't pull her off. That's when I called the police. By the time you arrived, well… this had happened.”

The officer scrutinized Janina, his expression clearly saying, Do you take me for a three-year-old?

However, the immediate issue wasn't how Finch got injured, but the fact that he was a member of The Obsidian Circle.

Janina brought Wendy to stay with her at Crystal Springs. Grace and Ethan Holt, knowing Wendy was coming home, had gone to the farmer’s market early that morning to buy all of Wendy's favorite foods. The poor girl had been through so much.

The moment Janina got Wendy settled, she received a call from the police.

It turned out the ten-million-dollar loan Baron had taken out was a scheme orchestrated by Finch. The police didn't specify the details. Furthermore, the check Finch had given Wendy was fake.

As for The Obsidian Circle, the police couldn't get a single useful piece of information out of Finch. No matter what methods they used, he remained silent. He only confessed to the crimes he had committed in Valerium over the past two years. The other eight women he had deceived also came forward to testify that Finch had indeed tried to lure them to Dawnhaven.

On the night the eight women gave their testimony, Finch was found dead in his cell.
