Perhaps fate worked in such mysterious ways, bringing together two people wounded by love to save and heal one another.
On their daily commutes, West and Wendy found they had endless things to talk about. West treated her with the care and protection one would show a younger sister, and Wendy, in her heart, respected him as an older brother. Aside from her few close friends, she had never received such concern and affection from anyone else in her life. The Holt family had given her the sense of family she had been missing.
At this point, neither West nor Wendy had realized that their feelings for each other were slowly changing.
Wendy smiled, took a sip of the soup, and gave West a thumbs-up. "Delicious!"
Maggie's eyes lit up at the sight, and she teased, "Wow, Mr. Holt, you're so thoughtful! And you're handsome and you can cook. I'm tempted to start chasing after you myself!"
As she spoke, she eagerly picked up a piece of steak. The flavor made her sigh with praise. "This is incredible. Absolutely incredible. I declare myself your biggest fan from now on!"
West’s long eyes narrowed slightly as he waved his hand with a smile. "A powerful woman like you? You're too much for me to handle. What happened, did you and your younger boyfriend break up?"
Melody quickly answered for Maggie. "They're doing just fine."
"Alright, you guys, stop teasing my brother," Janina said, then turned to West. "You can go get back to your work, West. We're going to have a few drinks."
West nodded. "Alright, ladies. If you need anything else, just order from the menu. It's on me tonight, so eat whatever you like."
"We definitely won't hold back. Thanks, West!"
