Abandoned by All I Took It All Back novel Chapter 541

When they got home, Janina saw how exhausted her parents were and offered to take the children to her room for the night.

But West stepped in. “I’ll take Liam,” he said. “Natalie, you can look after Joy. You’ve all had a long night and you’ll need to watch the kids tomorrow. Get some rest.”

Natalie took the sleeping Joy from Janina’s arms.

“Don’t worry, Janina. I’ll keep a close eye on Joy’s temperature. You look like you’re about to collapse. Go to bed.”

Then, Natalie turned to her equally weary parents. “Mom, Dad, you two should go to bed as well. West and I will handle the babies tonight. We have to work tomorrow, so you’ll need your energy to watch them.”

It was already past three in the morning. After the night they’d had, no one had gotten much sleep. Janina didn’t argue anymore. “Alright. Thanks, Natalie, West. You have my gratitude.”

“Mom, Dad, you should go to sleep too. I really can’t stay awake any longer,” Janina said, yawning as she walked toward her room.

She was asleep the moment her head hit the pillow, not even dreaming.

The next day.

Grace was holding Joy. The medicine had brought the fever down, but the child was listless and incredibly clingy.

Seeing that it was almost ten o’clock and Janina still hadn’t woken up, she handed Joy to Land and went upstairs to wake her daughter.

Grace knocked on the door a few times. When there was no response, she pushed the door open and went inside.

Seeing her daughter lying exhausted in a deep sleep, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.

Her daughter had never slept this soundly before. Her knocking hadn't been quiet, yet it hadn't roused her at all.

A sudden unease settled in Grace's heart. *Could Nina be sick?*

She instinctively reached out to touch Janina’s forehead, then her own. Janina seemed to have a low-grade fever.
