The man in the video was clearly there for a reason, and Janina immediately called Kenneth.
He answered almost instantly. "So, did you see the video? That guy did it on purpose. You were set up," Kenneth said, wasting no time.
"I saw it. I don't know this man, but someone must be behind him. I suspect either Yvonne or Elena, but Yvonne seems more likely. Keep an eye on her movements, and also, check her and this man's recent schedules for me, including anyone they've met."
Kenneth chuckled, sounding relaxed. "Don't worry, I'm already on it. Oh, right, I forgot to tell you. My people in Seacrest checked, and there was nothing wrong with the crystal balls from the store. Other customers who bought them on the same day had no issues either. This was a targeted attack, just on you."
Janina sighed, a self-deprecating smile on her face. "I guess they see me as an easy target."
"You know... you should really hire a bodyguard. I'm worried about your safety. Whoever this is, they're fixated on you, and they'll probably try something else."
Kenneth's words served as a wake-up call for Janina. Although she'd been practicing self-defense and could handle two or three attackers, she couldn't guard against an enemy lurking in the shadows. They could take her out easily if they really wanted to. She had too much to live for now—so many loved ones, two adorable children, and a life that was just starting to turn around. She couldn't bear the thought of dying quietly and meaninglessly.
"You've got a point. I'll ask Maggie to find me a female bodyguard," Janina said, a bad feeling settling in her heart.
Seeing Janina engrossed in her conversation with Kenneth, Wendy got out of bed, opened a drawer, and placed some snacks on the table. So much had happened in the past couple of days that no one had much of an appetite. She could already see that Janina had lost some weight.
