So, Adelina had let her daughter play the two-faced game. She wasn't the only one; in the business world, putting on a front was just part of the hustle.
But Adelina never imagined her daughter would cross the line into such reckless stupidity, bringing ruin upon herself.
"Natalie, get some sleep. Once your head is clear, think hard about your next move. I'm going to bed."
Fearing she might actually have a stroke if she stayed, Adelina stood up and left without waiting for a response.
Natalie knew her mother blamed her. But how was she wrong?
It was obviously Isabella's fault.
Everything was Isabella's fault.
Adelina returned to her bedroom to find her husband, Francis, sleeping soundly. She sat on the edge of the bed and shoved his shoulder.
"What is it?" Francis muttered, rolling over to face her with a bewildered expression. "I finally fell asleep, and you wake me up."
"I have a long day at the office tomorrow."
Unlike his wife, who lived comfortably at home and no longer bothered with the company's daily grind.
"You're sleeping like a rock while your precious daughter just ruined her life!"
Francis sat up. "So she had a fight with Jordan. He cheated, but they both agreed not to divorce. He promised not to do it again, though it obviously left a scar."
"It's normal for them to bicker. Natalie is pregnant, so her hormones are raging. I'll go talk to Jordan tomorrow and tell him to be more patient."
