After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan) novel Chapter 900

Isabella could hardly wait for her mom and Zachary to move in. The house would finally feel alive again, not so quiet and empty. Her mom would be there to look after her, and she could help out with the three of them too. Well, technically, her mom and Zachary didn’t really count as seniors just yet.

“Okay, I’ll just grab a cab straight to your place then. I’ll talk to you when I get home.”

“Alright.”

After hanging up, Cynthia turned to Zachary and Amelia. “Since we changed our flights and came back early without telling Isabella, let’s not bother her to pick us up. We can just take a couple of cabs ourselves.”

They had way too much luggage for one car anyway—six suitcases between the three of them, so everyone was wheeling out two.

Zachary nodded. “I’ve been saying, we should just get cabs. There’s no need to make Isabella drive all the way out here.”

“She’s busy enough these days,” Cynthia said, smiling. “I just thought maybe she’d be free tonight.”

“I’ve been away so long, I really miss my girl,” she added with a little laugh.

“I know what you mean. I miss my kids too,” Amelia said, smiling back. Even though the kids were all grown up and independent, a mom’s heart never really stops worrying. Being away that long just made her miss them more.

While they were making their way to the exit, Cynthia’s phone started ringing. She stopped, checked the screen, and hesitated for a split second before answering.

“Ethan?”

It was Ethan on the line.

“Mom, did you, Zachary, and Amelia already land? Send me your location and I’ll come pick you up.”

Cynthia answered automatically, “No need, Ethan. We’ll just take a cab.”

Zachary looked over, worried. “What’s wrong? Did Ethan say something? Is he giving Isabella a hard time again?”

“No, nothing like that. He said he was just dropping off a client at the airport and happened to find out we were back. He wants to give us a ride home since he’s heading that way anyway.”

Amelia raised her eyebrows. “Are there even flights this late? It’s almost nine thirty. You don’t think he came here just to wait for us, do you?”

“He’s been all over Isabella since the divorce, trying to win her back, right? She probably turned him down, so now he’s trying to get on your good side,” Zachary said.

Cynthia shook her head. “That can’t be it. Not even Isabella knew we were coming back tonight. How would Ethan have found out? We just landed.”

“Maybe it’s just a coincidence,” Amelia said, though her tone sounded far from convinced.
