After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan) novel Chapter 901

Zachary didn’t say another word after that.

Honestly, they’d all come back earlier than planned. Even Isabella hadn’t known they were coming. How could Ethan have known? If it was just a coincidence, it was almost too perfect.

The three of them had just stepped outside when they heard someone calling their names. It was Ethan, standing at the exit with four bodyguards. He was tall and handsome, impossible to miss in the crowd.

He waved them over.

As soon as they reached him, Ethan walked right up and gently took the two suitcases from Cynthia’s hands.

“Let me handle these, Mom,” he said.

His bodyguards didn’t waste a second. They took the rest of the luggage from Zachary and Amelia. Even the suitcases Ethan had grabbed were quickly taken off his hands. There was no way they’d let their boss carry anything when they were there to help.

Now that he was free, Ethan reached for the backpack on Cynthia’s shoulders. He smiled and said, “Mom, how did you three end up with so much stuff?”

Cynthia looked a little sheepish. “We spent a couple of days shopping before coming back. Everything looked so tempting. One thing led to another, and suddenly we needed more suitcases just to fit it all.”

Ethan grinned. “You know, you could’ve just shipped it back. That way, you wouldn’t have had to carry so much.”

She waved him off. “We just thought, why not bring it all with us? If we flew home together, our things would come too. No need to wait for deliveries.”

After she finished explaining, Cynthia seemed to remember something. She turned to Ethan and said, “Ethan, you really should call me Cynthia from now on. Don’t call me Mom anymore. You and Isabella are divorced. It just doesn’t feel right.”

Ethan’s jaw tightened for a moment. Then he said quietly, “Mom, I want to get back together with Isabella. I really mean it. One way or another, I’m hoping we’ll remarry. When that happens, you’ll be my mother-in-law again, so calling you Mom just feels right to me.”

She talked the whole way home, barely pausing for breath. When the car finally pulled up, she glanced out the window and asked, “Are we here already?”

“Yes, Mom, we’ve arrived. I’m not sure if Isabella is home yet. Let me call her so she knows you’re back.” Ethan pulled out his phone, but before he could dial, the villa’s front gate swung open.

Isabella stepped outside, with Harold by her side.

The sight of Harold was enough to turn Ethan’s good mood to ashes.

“Mom, Isabella’s here to welcome you home. I’ll stay out here. I don’t want to upset her.” Ethan spoke softly, then got out of the car. He came around to open the door for Cynthia.

Cynthia hesitated for a moment. She wanted to invite Ethan inside for a while, but this was Isabella’s house. Without asking her daughter first, it didn’t feel right. So she just looked over at Isabella, waiting for her cue.
