After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 591

Both of them looked like they’d just gone twelve rounds with each other. Their faces were a mess, swollen and bruised. For some reason, they kept aiming for each other’s faces, almost like they both believed the other’s good looks were what Isabella liked most. So they went for the face, over and over, until neither of them looked remotely handsome anymore.

Isabella tried knocking. No answer. The doorbell didn’t help either.

Finally, she pulled out her phone and called Ethan.

Inside, Ethan had Harold pinned to the floor. When his phone buzzed, he shot Harold a glare and muttered, “It’s Isabella.”

“I can hear, you know,” Harold replied, rolling his eyes.

“Let me up. Let’s call a truce for now,” Harold said, trying to wriggle free.

Ethan’s voice was thick with resentment. “I thought you were my brother. How could you go after my wife?”

“You’re the one who doesn’t love her. You two are divorced. I have every right to like her,” Harold shot back.

“I never wanted the divorce. I’ve said it a million times. When I married Isabella, I meant it for life. This divorce is just temporary. I’m going to win her back and marry her again.”

Harold just snorted. “Try it, then. But you’re divorced. That means I get to chase her too. May the best man win.”

Ethan’s jaw tightened. “There’s nothing fair about this competition.”

A smirk tugged at Harold’s lips. “You’re scared, aren’t you? You know how much you’ve hurt Isabella. You know you might lose. That’s why you don’t want to play fair.”

Ethan hated to admit it, but Harold was right. He was scared.

Harold nodded toward the phone. “Answer Isabella’s call already. Let me up. Why isn’t she calling me?”

Ethan finally let go, but not before giving Harold a quick kick. Harold scrambled up and kicked him twice in return.

Isabella wasn’t buying it. “Harold, just open the door and let me in.”

Harold looked to Ethan, waiting for a decision.

After Isabella’s repeated demands, Ethan finally slung an arm over Harold’s shoulder and together they walked to the door, both putting on a united front.

After hanging up, Ethan whispered, “Don’t even think about hiding behind me. We’re facing this together.” His face was a disaster, and Harold looked just as bad. If he was losing face in front of Isabella, then so was Harold.

Ethan unlocked the door and pulled it open.

Isabella had been about to knock again, but stopped short when the door swung open.

She stared at them, completely at a loss for words. It was obvious they’d just fought. Neither of them had won. Both of their faces were swollen, bruised, and smeared with blood at the corners of their mouths. And yet, their arms were around each other’s shoulders, putting on a show of brotherly camaraderie.
