Compared to Sophia, who was clearly freaking out, Isabella was completely calm. Her voice was icy as she said, “Come to The Cabinda Hospital. Ethan’s here.”
Jennifer’s voice shot up, worried. “Wait, what happened to Ethan?”
Isabella didn’t soften at all. “Sophia drugged him.”
Jennifer immediately sounded serious. “Isabella, you can’t just say things like that. There’s no way Sophia would ever drug Ethan.”
“She wouldn’t drug Ethan, but she’d have no problem drugging me. She gave me that coffee on purpose. She put something in it, and Ethan ended up drinking it instead. That’s why this happened to him.”
“This is exactly Sophia’s style, Jennifer. I’m not letting it go. I’ve already called the police. Let them investigate and tell us if she did it.”
There were cameras everywhere in her shop. One of them must have caught Sophia in the act, right when she slipped the drug in.
But where did Sophia even get that stuff? She couldn’t have bought something like that on her own. Someone had to be pulling the strings, someone who gave Sophia the drug and told her what to do.
She was leaving it all to the police. Laura and Jesse were in the loop, too. Jesse had just called, promising to check who Sophia had been hanging out with lately. He was determined to find the person behind all this.
Jennifer asked, “Isabella, did you really call the police?”
Jennifer fell silent for a moment.
She finally said, “Isabella, I’m driving. We’ll talk later. I’m on my way to the hospital.”
Isabella added, “Honestly, you didn’t even need to take Ethan to the hospital. If you two just became a real couple, the drug would wear off on its own. Taking him to the hospital… if people find out, it’ll be a huge joke.”
She was sure Sophia had told Jennifer the truth. Jennifer’s real message was obvious. She didn’t want the police involved. She didn’t want Ethan in the hospital. She was worried about everyone’s reputation. All she wanted was for Isabella to be Ethan’s so-called antidote herself.
