Chapter 304
Drake’s jaw tightened, a muscle twitching visibly, but he didn’t deny it. Instead, he leaned closer, his breath hot against my ear paid your dinner tab, by the way. Next time you want to join a work dinner, just tell me. You don’t need to let another man pay for
you. You’re mine.”
‘I’m not yours,” I hissed, pushing against his chest with both hands, my fingers splayed across the expensive fabric. And I didn’t ask Bruce to pay. Get that through your thick skull!”
His hand moved to my shoulder, fingers digging in slightly. Not enough to hurt, but enough to remind me of his/strength, his control. I tried to shrug him off, my shoulder rolling aggressively, but he held firm.
“You promised you wouldn’t bully me anymore,” I said, my voice wavering despite my best efforts, tears of frustration threatening to spill. “What is this, Drake? What the hell are you doing?”
He studied my face for a long moment, his expression unreadable as his eyes raked over my features. “You think I’m following Wayne’s example? Pursuing you now that you’re playing hard to get?”
The question hung between us, loaded with implication. When he didn’t deny it, something in my chest tightened and twisted painfully. Was that what this was about? Drake, competitive to his core, couldn’t stand the idea of another man wanting what he considered his property?
“Baby,” he said softly, the pet name sending unwanted shivers down my spine.
“Don’t call me that,” I snapped, my voice cracking slightly. I slammed my palm against the wall beside me in frustration. “Drake, I’m not your personal possession to do with as you please. I’m not your goddamn toy to pick up when you’re bored and discard when
something shinier comes along.”
His eyes darkened, and for a moment, I thought he might kiss me again, like he had at the Garcia mansion.
Instead, I straightened my spine and looked directly into his eyes, squaring my shoulders and lifting my chin defiantly. “I’m only going to say this once. From now on, I’m only sleeping with someone I’m actually dating-with my boyfriend, my husband. Someone who respects me enough to claim me publicly, not hide me away like some dirty secret.”
A muscle in Drake’s jaw twitched violently. “You think Wayne respects you? You think he sees you as anything more than a trophy?”
“If you want to emulate Bruce’s pursuit,” I continued, ignoring his question, my voice growing stronger with each word, “then get rid of Vera and all those other women circling around you. Cut them loose completely, and I’ll give you a real chance to court me.
Otherwise, back the fuck off.”
I don’t know where the boldness came from-perhaps from the fever that had barely left my system, or the frustration of years of being treated like a disposable accessory. But in that moment, I meant every damn word.
Drake’s grip on me loosened, surprise flashing across his features. I seized the opportunity, shoving him back with all my strength and darting around him toward the restaurant entrance, my heels clicking rapidly against the stone path.

Chapter 304
Elsa-
he called after me, but I didn’t stop. I flipped him off over my shoulder without looking back.
By the time I reached the door, I heard his footsteps behind me. When I glanced back, he had already smoothed his expression bark to cool indifference, buttoned his jacket to hide the missing button, and transformed back into the perfect, untouchable CEO tha everyone else saw.
And as always, no one would ever guess what had just transpired between us in the shadows.
