Chapter 305
Elsa
The morning after our heated exchange in the restaurant garden, I was at my desk at Moonlight Enterprises exactly on time, dressed in a crisp navy blazer and pencil skirt, my hair pulled back in a neat bun.
My phone buzzed with a message from Joseph: “Meeting with Silver Leaf Development in 30 minutes at Tea Forest Pavilion. Bring the quarterly projections.”
I gathered the necessary files and headed out, grateful for the distraction of work. My hands trembled slightly as I organized the documents, betraying the lingering tension from last night’s encounter. I took a deep breath, squaring my shoulders. Work was my sanctuary now, and I wouldn’t let Drake’s ghost haunt me there.
The Tea Forest Pavilion was an elegant meeting space known for its traditional architecture and secluded conference rooms-perfect for discreet business negotiations between rival packs.
For over two hours, I sat beside Joseph as he discussed a potential joint venture with Silver Leaf, a company affiliated with the Moon Shadow pack. The representative from Moon Shadow was particularly aggressive, trying to push terms that clearly favored
their side. I dug my nails into my palm under the table each time he spoke, channeling my irritation into laser-focused attention on
the contract details.
When Joseph stepped out to take a call, the Moon Shadow representative leaned across the table. “I hear you used to work for Stone.
Must be… interesting… to work with wolves from both companies.“
I maintained my professional smile while my stomach knotted with tension. “I believe in focusing on the business at hand rather than pack politics. Speaking of which, section 3.2 of your proposal contains some inconsistencies with the zoning regulations.”
By the time Joseph returned, I had successfully redirected the conversation back to the contract details, highlighting several areas where the Moon Shadow pack was attempting to slip in unfavorable terms.
As we left the meeting room, Joseph nodded approvingly. “That was impressive back there. Your handling of that Moon Shadow
representative was quite skillful.”
“Thank you, Mr. Moonlight. I was just doing my job.” I tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear, fighting the urge to fidget under
his appraising gaze.
Joseph’s eyes held an evaluative gleam. “A smart Omega with a pretty face-no wonder Stone kept you around for so long.”
I kept my expression neutral, though his words stung like a slap. My jaw clenched as I swallowed the bitter retort rising in my throat. Even here, I was still being defined by my status and appearance rather than my abilities.
Goddamn it, will I ever be seen as more than just an Omega with a “pretty face”?
“It’s all thanks to your guidance, Mr. Moonlight,” I replied diplomatically, digging my fingernails into my palm.

Chapter 305
As we rounded the corner to the main hallway, Taylor Clark, Drake’s assistant and bodyguard, approached us.
“Mr. Moonlight, Taylor nodded respectfully. “Mr. Stone wanted to know if you’d be interested in sampling this year’s new Silver Leaf tea? He’s in the east pavilion.”
Joseph’s expression remained impassive, but I felt my body tense. My heart hammered against my ribs, and I felt a cold sweat break out across my back. I didn’t need werewolf senses to know Drake was nearby-I could feel his presence like an electric current in the air. My eyes involuntarily scanned the corridor and locked with his across the distance.
What caught me off guard wasn’t his presence, but his attire. Drake Stone, who exclusively wore black or charcoal suits, was standing there in a light pink T-shirt under an open blazer. The color softened his usually hard features, making him look almost approachable.
What the actual fuck? I blinked rapidly, convinced my eyes were playing tricks on me.
Years ago, I had suggested he try lighter colors to appear more accessible to clients. He had dismissed the idea with a scoff, claiming an Alpha didn’t need to appear “accessible.” Yet here he was, in pink-a color I had specifically mentioned would complement his complexion.
A ridiculous thought flashed through my mind: Was this Vera’s influence? Had she accomplished in weeks what I couldn’t in years?
The thought made me grip my folder so tightly the edges crumpled beneath my fingers.
I quickly averted my gaze, my throat suddenly tight, pulse racing. “Shit,” I muttered under my breath, too softly for anyone to hear.
What Drake wore was none of my business anymore.
“Elsa, go discuss the contract details with others,” Joseph instructed. “I’ll handle this.”
I nodded gratefully and hurried away, feeling Drake’s eyes tracking my movement until I turned the corner. My legs felt unsteady, and I braced myself against the wall once I was out of sight, forcing myself to take several deep breaths.
Back at Moonlight Enterprises that afternoon, Joseph called me into his office, his expression uncharacteristically severe.
‘I need you to notify HR to terminate Zoe Brown immediately,” he said without preamble. “Then find a suitable replacement
assistant. Handle it personally.”
I blinked in surprise, my hand freezing mid-air as I was about to take a seat. “May I ask why? Did something happen?”
Joseph’s eyes narrowed. “I don’t like having people with questionable loyalty around me. Competence is secondary to
trustworthiness.”
I couldn’t help wondering if this was Drake’s doing. My stomach twisted uncomfortably as I fidgeted with the button on my blazer,
At the HR department, Zoe’s desk was already empty, though her personal items remained. I felt uncomfortable as i processed her termination paperwork, aware of the curious and judgmental gazes from other employees. The whispers stopped whenever I looked
