Vera gasped dramatically, her hand flying to her cheek like she was in some fucking soap opera. ‘Drake!” she cried, clutching his arm again.

‘You can’t let her humiliate me like this!”

I watched Drake’s internal struggle with vicious delight. He was scanning the room, assessing the political implications like the calculating

bastard he was. My brother Alexander was watching with interest from the sidelines, and I knew Drake wouldn’t risk offending the Moon

Shadow Alpha over something as trivial as his girlfriend’s dignity.

“Vera,” he said quietly, ‘sometimes we must endure small indignities for the greater good.”

The look of betrayal on her face was fucking priceless. My wolf howled with satisfaction inside me.

“You’re not serious! You’re going to let her hit me?’ Her voice cracked with disbelief.

Elsa stepped forward, ever the diplomat. “Miss Lumin, I’ve already arranged for Moon Shadow craftsmen to deliver a replacement dress. And I’d

be happy to lend you my backup gown for the remainder of the evening.

I laughed, genuinely amused by her attempt to protect the very woman who’d tried to destroy her. “Fucking hell, you’re something else, I

thought with a mixture of respect and frustration. Such a good little omegn, always trying to keep the peace even when she should be out for

blood.

“No need for substitutes,” I dismissed her offer with a wave of my hand. I said what I want, and I meant it.” I turned back to Vera, my body

humming with anticipation. “One slap. That’s my price.”

Vera looked to Drake again, tears welling up perfectly on cue. Drake avoided her gaze like the coward he was, whispering something to another

high-ranking pack member.

I approached Vera with deliberate steps, my heart pounding with the righteous fury of vengeance. Without hesitation, I delivered the most

satisfying slap of my fucking life, making sure it would echo through the hall like a gunshot. The sting on my palm was glorious, worth it to

see her head snap to the side, her cheek instantly reddening with the perfect imprint of my hand.

Real tears spilled down her face as she stood there, too shocked to even touch her burning cheek. The Black Obsidian wolves looked

uncomfortable but made no move to intervene.

Mission accomplished, bitch. This wasn’t just about a ruined dress-this was payback for what she’d done to Elsa, for the workers injured in

that factory, and for her insulting attitude toward my pack.

I watched as Elsa turned to leave, her ankle clearly causing her pain. She stumbled, and my brother Alexander caught her before she could fall,

his touch gentle in a way that made me roll my eyes. Always the gentlema

“Careful, Miss Hale,’ he said softly. ‘I see your injury is still causing you pin, perhaps I should escort you somewhere to rest?”

My brother and his fucking savior complex. Though I had to admit, Elsa was a vast improvement over his usual interests. At least she had some

backbone beneath that submissive exterior.

“My brother’s always so gallant,’ I commented loudly, watching Drake’s fa darken with jealousy like a storm cloud. No wonder Drake keeps

you on such a short leash, Elsa. You’re clearly the type who strays when gen half a chance.”

Drake’s warning gaze burned into Elsa, who carefully extracted herself from Alexander’s support.
