Alpha's Private Plaything (Elsa and Drake Stone) novel Chapter 86

Chapter 86

Elsa

We strolled along the winding path of Twin Moon University, sunlight dappling through the trees overhead. Allen walked beside me,

deliberately slowing his pace to match mine.

“This used to be the badminton courts,” I said, pointing to an open area on our right, a wave of nostalgia washing over me. “All the inter- department tournaments were held here. Now they’ve moved all the training facilities to the North Quad.”

Damn, this place used to be my happiest spot. No suffocating corporate politics, no Drake’s control, no mask I had to wear every day.

Allen nodded, curiosity sparkling in his eyes. “You really miss it, don’t you?”

“I spent four years here,” I smiled, though my emotions were churning inside. “To be honest, being back on campus feels like coming home. No oppressive corporate atmosphere.”

Lost in this brief taste of freedom, I barely registered movement before Allen’s arm wrapped around me, pulling me against his chest. A white training ball-the heavy, reinforced kind-whistled past where I’d been standing moments before, leaving a visible dent in the

ground.

My heart jumped, both from the sudden danger and from Allen’s unexpected physical contact. Fuck, this is too close, his scent…

“Sorry!” Several young wolves jogged over, immediately lowering their posture when they spotted Allen. “Mr. Moonlight, sir, we didn’t realize the ball would go that far.”

Allen released me, acknowledging them with a slight nod. I glanced down at the dent in the ground, realizing those specially-designed training balls were made to strengthen young wolves’ power and agility. If it had hit me, I’d be nursing at least a broken bone right now. Shit, he might have just saved me from a hospital visit.

“Mr. Moonlight, thank you,” I said awkwardly, stepping back to create distance between us. Drake would go crazy over this, but fuck him,

he’s not here.

Allen’s gaze dropped to my ankle, which I now noticed was reddening. “Ms. Hale, no need for thanks. But your ankle seems injured. Let

me help you.”

He extended his hand but maintained a respectful distance, his eyes questioning. This respectful approach highlighted the difference between him and his brother Rex-beneath similar appearances, Allen was clearly more mature and measured.

This is respect, not Drake’s controlling commands. He didn’t even grab me directly, but is waiting for my consent.

“It’s fine, really,” I tried to decline, but winced when I took a step.

“Brother! How could you just leave without me?” A female voice called from behind us.

Chapter 86

We turned to see a young female wolf running toward us. She had the same grayish-brown hair as Allen, but her eyes were brighter, more animated. She was dressed in fashionable campus wear, clearly a student.

This is my sister, Susan,” Allen introduced.

Susan reached us, her gaze shifting from her brother to me, and her eyes widened in recognition. “It’s you! Mr. Stone’s assistant?”

I froze momentarily, then remembered-Susan Moonlight, the girl who had openly expressed her admiration for Drake at a Black Obsidian

gathering three years ago. She’d been young then, but her posture and gaze had betrayed her infatuation. Now she’d grown into a

beautiful young woman.

Perfect opportunity. Damn, this is like fate.

“Yes, I’m Elsa Hale, Mr. Stone’s senior assistant,” I replied politely.

Susan immediately linked her arm through mine, her eyes sparkling with curiosity and excitement. “How are things between you and Mr. Stone? After all these years, has your relationship become more… intimate?” Her voice carried an unmistakable probe.

If only you knew. The Elsa bound to Drake has been dying a little each day under years of humiliation and pain. Silly girl, the man you

want is a monster.

“I’m leaving soon,” I told her calmly. “Mr. Stone has already approved it.”

Susan paused, then undisguised excitement flashed across her face. “Really? You’re leaving Stone Industries?”

I nodded, an idea suddenly forming in my mind. Susan was from a prominent Black Obsidian family, had always admired Drake… if she could replace me… perhaps this would be the best outcome for everyone. Drake needed a mate from a good family, not an omega like me.

And I needed freedom.

“Could you help me find an internship position at Stone Industries?” Susan asked eagerly. “I’ve always admired Mr. Stone’s company, and I’m looking for an internship opportunity now.”
