Alpha's Private Plaything (Elsa and Drake Stone) novel Chapter 87

Chapter 87

“Send me your resume,” I said, pulling a business card from my bag. “I’ll see what positions might suit you.”

Perhaps my position. Drake would like that-a young, beautiful girl from a good family, obviously preferable to an omega approaching

thirty.

Susan excitedly took my card, quickly adding my contact information. “I’ll send it right away! This afternoon!”

After exchanging pleasantries, I checked my watch. “Mr. Moonlight, I need to get back to Stone Industries. Drake has a meeting this

afternoon.”

“I need to pick up something from the bakery near your company,” Allen said. “Could I catch a ride with you?”

I hesitated but found no reason to refuse this reasonable request. “Of course.”

Drake would kill me for this. Imagine his rigid face and glowing wolf eyes. Fuck him, I don’t care anymore.

After saying goodbye to Susan, we walked to the parking lot. Allen politely opened the car door for me before taking the passenger seat. In the car, our conversation flowed easily, with Allen carefully avoiding sensitive topics between our companies, showing a rare

thoughtfulness.

This is what normal communication between people is like, isn’t it? Not commands, not control, just equal conversation. God, I’ve forgotten what this feels like.

At the Moon Shadow Bakery near the office, Allen asked me to wait in the car while he went to stand in line. Over twenty minutes later,

he returned with two paper bags.

“This is for you,” he handed me a small bag. “It’s their special soothing pastry. Helps with physical discomfort.”

I accepted the bag with surprise, inhaling the faint scent of mint and citrus. “Thank you. That’s… very thoughtful.”

This is what a man who respects women does, not like Drake, who only knows how to command and take. Damn, why did I waste so many

years?

Just then, I noticed Luke walking out of the company building, catching sight of my interaction with Allen. His eyes flashed with wariness, and I knew he would report this to Drake.

Let him. Only a few days left. I no longer belong to that control freak.

After Allen got out, I drove directly back to the company. Susan’s resume had already arrived in my inbox. I quickly reviewed it-excellent academic record, several good internships, and most importantly, an impeccable family background.

Perfect. She’s young, beautiful, from a good family, and obviously has feelings for Drake. Damn, she’s exactly the type of woman he wants.

Not me.

I organized the resume and recommendation letters, then knocked on Drake’s office door.

“Come in. His cold voice carried through.

I pushed open the door. Drake sat behind his massive desk, his gaze sharp as a blade. “Mr. Stone, I’ve found a suitable replacement.” I

handed him the documents.

Drake didn’t even glance at the files, his eyes fixed directly on me. “Ms. Hale, such efficiency. You seem desperate to leave our company.”

His tone was icy, carrying obvious displeasure.

“Should I applaud your actions?” he asked sarcastically, fingers lightly tapping the desk.

I lowered my head, forcing myself to remain calm. Deep breath. Don’t let him see your anger. Just a few more days until freedom. “She meets your standards-young, beautiful, from a good family, and she’s admired you for years. I believe she’d be an ideal candidate.”
