Aurora Walton and Lucas Carter novel Chapter 1652

She wanted to stand beside the pyramid, not beneath it looking up.

She wanted to stand on equal ground with Lucas.

And how could Charles not see through his daughter’s thoughts?

He knew she was too ambitious.

There was a time when he’d even considered marrying her to Lucas, but ever since learning that Lucas was already married, he knew that door was closed.

There was no point forcing something that would never happen.

Lucas calling him had made one thing clear—he had no interest in Yvonne at all.

Pushing the matter further would only erase whatever little goodwill remained.

Lucas wasn’t the kind of man to hold on to sentiment. Charles knew that better than anyone.

So how could he possibly stand by and watch his daughter throw herself into the fire?

“So, you really won’t come back?” Charles let out a long sigh.

He understood her ambition too well. But the man was married now, pursuing him any further would only make her look foolish.

“My mind’s made up, Dad. Please don’t interfere anymore.” Yvonne’s tone was firm. Once she decided on something, no one could change it.

Charles’ expression hardened. “Do you even realize you could bring ruin to this family?”

But his words only strengthened her resolve. “No matter what happens, this is my decision. Don’t worry, it won’t drag the Song family into it.”
