Aurora teased him on purpose, and Lucas caught her meaning immediately. Pulling out a chair, he said with a smile, “Alright, let’s eat.”
As soon as she sat down, he started serving her food. “Try this. I slow-cooked the ribs for hours. See if the flavor’s right.”
Aurora obligingly picked up a piece and took a bite. “It’s really good—tender and full of flavor. Even the bones smell amazing.”
Her praise was genuine, and Lucas noticed how her eyes curved in satisfaction. She wasn’t just being polite. She truly liked it.
That small detail made him quietly pleased. “As long as you’re happy, that’s all that matters.”
“Of course I am,” Aurora replied without hesitation. “You made all this yourself. How could I not love it?”
Their conversation flowed easily, light and playful, each complimenting the other.
When they had nearly finished, Aurora suddenly spoke up. “By the way, something happened on set today. Do you know about it?”
Lucas set down his fork, puzzled. “No, I haven’t heard anything. What happened?”
Aurora’s expression grew serious. “Lucas, you really don’t know where Yvonne went?”
He frowned slightly. “What do you mean? Did she leave the production?”
Aurora nodded firmly. “Yes. She told our director early this morning she’s quitting the show.
“And when she left, she didn’t even give the director a chance to respond, let alone hand over her work properly.”
The more Aurora spoke, the angrier she became. “That kind of behavior isn’t acceptable anywhere in the industry. How can she be so irresponsible?”
Lucas met her gaze seriously. “Are you sure you want me to reach out to her?”
Aurora hesitated, her confidence wavering.
The truth was, she didn’t want him to. How could she possibly feel comfortable asking her husband to contact another woman, especially one she’d never gotten along with?
It felt like she’d be sending him straight into someone else’s arms.
But Yvonne’s sudden departure would definitely affect her own work.
For a moment, Aurora was caught in the middle—torn between pride and practicality.
