She didn’t want to see Megan feeling so down in the future.
The two of them were the closest people in each other’s lives.
Other than Megan, she couldn’t think of anyone else who understood her that well.
……
When Aurora returned to the hotel that night, she told Lucas about everything.
Hearing it, Lucas set down his laptop and pushed up the rimless glasses on his nose.
He found it a little amusing and couldn’t help lifting the corner of his mouth as he looked at her.
“When did something this small become something you needed to tell me?”
Aurora answered earnestly, “We’re husband and wife. No matter what it is, we face it together.
“Like you said before, I shouldn’t hide things from you. We should always be honest with each other.”
She replayed his earlier volcano analogy in her mind.
Marriage worked that way—keep everything bottled up, and one day it would erupt.
So, nothing should be held inside. Solving things on the spot was the best way.
“Aurora, it makes me really happy to hear you say that.”
Lucas held her hand and pulled her onto his lap.
Seeing she didn’t resist, she settled there and looped her arms around his neck.
They were close enough to feel each other’s breath.
Lucas breathed in the light scent on her skin and let out a quiet sigh.
In that moment, he felt completely satisfied.
With Aurora by his side, life felt full.
