Aurora Walton and Lucas Carter novel Chapter 1793

Arnold lifted his head in surprise, not expecting Grace to truly take his words to heart.

He had assumed she wouldn’t care about his thoughts at all.

After all, she was the one running this household, and she managed a massive corporation with both the authority and capability to back it up.

The things he said today had been bold, even rude. Many of the words he’d spoken had slipped out before he could think them through.

It felt satisfying in the moment, but afterward, regret settled in.

He knew he had crossed the line, yet Grace hadn’t held any of it against him.

She hadn’t scolded him, nor had she pressured him.

Realizing this, Arnold felt genuinely moved.

He understood Grace had spared him out of consideration for Aurora, and he intended to appreciate that grace.

“Don’t worry. From now on, I won’t say things like that again.”

His face grew solemn. “I spoke out today only because I couldn’t bear what I saw. I know my behavior was inappropriate.

“Rest assured, I’ll be more mindful of my place from now on. I won’t speak recklessly again.”

He finished speaking, and just as he was about to leave, Grace stopped him.

“Wait.”

He froze, unsure what she meant.

“Madam Grace, is there anything else you need?”

“What happened today made me realize the problem lies with me. I’ll change from now on.”

Hearing that, Arnold was taken aback. He hadn’t expected those words to come out of her mouth.
