Did that mean he truly hadn’t lied to her?
While hesitation still lingered, another thought surfaced in Yvonne’s mind.
Maybe trusting him was the better choice after all.
She exhaled slowly.
“Alright. Since you’ve said all that, I’ll choose to believe you. I’ll hand my influence over to you.”
Without wasting time, Yvonne pushed her most trusted aide toward Joseph.
“He’s been with me for years. If you need anything, speak to him directly.”
“He’ll handle everything for me, won’t he?”
As she spoke, Joseph’s eyes sparkled as he watched her.
It was the first time he had truly examined Yvonne this seriously, and only now did he realize she wasn’t as simple as he once imagined.
Part of her clearly didn’t trust him, yet here she was—hesitant, nervous, and still placing her power in his hands. It was strangely endearing.
And Joseph could swear that everything he said earlier had been sincere. Since Yvonne was willing to trust him, why would he betray that trust?
Finding someone who understood him wasn’t easy.
Besides, working with Yvonne had always been smooth and unexpectedly pleasant.
Why would he ruin that by doing something underhanded?
If he ever betrayed her, he would only feel horribly guilty.
“Don’t worry. Since I’ve made myself clear, I won’t change my mind so easily.”
