Blizzard First Love and a Wife Who Finally Snaps novel Chapter 445

Daniel, sitting in the front, broke out in a cold sweat when he heard that.

Adrian hadn't shown up because he was afraid Isabel would be upset to see him.

He had been too persistent before, and it was clear Isabel didn't appreciate that approach.

So he had been taking care of things quietly behind the scenes.

Who could have known this would be the situation?

"I'm sorry, Ms. Hayes. It won't happen again. Mr. Blackwell was just being considerate of your feelings. He was worried you'd be unhappy to see him, so he didn't come along. From now on, I'll be responsible for handling these matters so you don't have to run back and forth."

Isabel had no intention of relying on Adrian to solve everything.

She could handle her own affairs.

Her network of contacts was connected to him, but she didn't need to live under his protection.

"It has nothing to do with him, and you don't need to report this to him. Evelyn was just angry and spoke without thinking. I can handle it."

Daniel had never been in a relationship. He might have understood a little more than Adrian, possessing a bit of emotional intelligence.

But even he couldn't resolve a situation like this.

No amount of emotional intelligence was going to help now.

"I'm sorry, Ms. Hayes."

Isabel glanced at Evelyn. "There are some things you can say to me in private."

Evelyn thought it over and, in the end, said nothing, just nodding.

The journey was long. They first had to take a car to the bus station.

They also had to navigate winding mountain roads.

After her outburst, Evelyn grew quiet.

By the time they were nearly off the mountain roads, dusk had fallen.

The driver had to slow down.

Evelyn leaned against Isabel's shoulder, in a groggy state.

Isabel was also tired and closed her eyes to rest.

Daniel was helping the driver keep an eye on the road, but he glanced down for just a moment to reply to a message.

In that instant, a large truck barreled toward them from the opposite direction, aiming to collide with them head-on.

The mountain road was narrow. If they were hit, their car would be sent tumbling off the cliff, and no trace of them would be left.
