Terence said, “You’re wrong. It’s not that I’ll get tired of her; I’m worried that one day she’ll get tired of me. As long as she’ll have me, I don’t care about anything else. She’s my world.”
Angela listened, feeling like she was about to have a heart attack!
How could Terence have become so subservient, such a lovesick fool!
“Terence, one day you’ll see her true colors, and you’ll realize how good I am to you!”
Angela stormed off, unable to take any more.
At that moment, Terence said to Lucas and Liana, “You two go on up and get to bed. You have kindergarten tomorrow.”
Lucas and Liana knew their daddy had something to say to Natalie, so they obediently left.
As Natalie was about to start cleaning up, Terence grabbed her hand. “Don’t you have any questions for me?”
Natalie said, “What do you think I should ask you?”
Terence said, “It’s true that you look like Rose Everhart. The first time I saw you, I thought you looked just like her.”
Hearing Terence’s words, Natalie felt a bitter sting.
So, Rose Everhart was Lucas and Liana’s mother. That must be why she wasn’t here with them; she must have passed away.
“But my feelings for you aren’t just because you look like Rose. The person I like is you, Natalie.”
Natalie didn’t know whether she should thank Terence for his honesty. All she felt was a heavy weight in her chest. Perhaps no one ever wants to be a replacement for someone else.
“You don’t have to explain to me, really. I don’t mind. It doesn’t matter who I look like. Once we get through this rough patch, we’re supposed to go our separate ways anyway.”
“Go our separate ways? You’re still thinking of leaving me?”
“You left the Lockwood family because of me, so I can’t leave you all at a time like this. But once you’re back on your feet, I should start a new life of my own.”
