Victoria turned to Hanley and said, “Hanley, are you hungry? Do you want to go get something to eat?”
Hanley froze. He hadn't expected to see his mother here. They had opened a restaurant, and from the looks of it, it was crowded and doing well. He had seen them laughing and talking at the entrance, looking so happy.
Natalie said flatly, “We’re full right now. You’ll have to go somewhere else.”
Victoria replied, “That’s fine, we can wait. But it’s not good for a child to go hungry.”
Natalie’s face darkened, but it was Terence who spoke to a waiter. “There’s a small table inside. Show them to it.”
“Terence, they’re obviously here to cause trouble! Why are you letting them in?” Natalie protested.
“If we don’t let her in, she’ll just wait out here and make a scene. That would only make things harder for the boy.”
He was worried about Hanley. Natalie’s expression remained grim.
Victoria led Hanley inside. The place was buzzing with activity, and business seemed to be booming.
The menu had been personally curated by Terence, and the chefs were hand-picked by him as well.
“This is absolutely delicious! And the ingredients are so fresh.”
“I’m definitely recommending this place to my friends. The food is amazing, and let me tell you, the owner is gorgeous. Even in a wheelchair, it doesn’t take away from his charm at all.”
None of these patrons had ever met Terence or knew he was the former CEO of the Lockwood Group. To them, he was just a handsome man with a disability who owned a restaurant.
Victoria sat there, listening to all the praise and watching the thriving business, her heart burning with resentment.
