A wave of shock went through the crowd. What? Natalie had a child for someone else?
Natalie retorted angrily, "You're lying! When have I ever had a child for someone else?"
Just then, Darren stepped forward and punched Martin Doyle squarely in the face. "What nonsense are you spouting?"
"She sold her own flesh and blood! She's always been a vain woman who's obsessed with money! She's shameless, trafficking her own body like that!"
Natalie said furiously, "I only did it because Kate Verdan was dying—she needed a miracle, and I was the only one who could give it to her!"
"Don't try to make yourself sound so noble. You sold them, and that's a fact. That’s a stain on your soul you’ll never scrub off."
"It looks like Natalie is going to be living in that man's shadow for the rest of her life."
"What terrible luck for Natalie. She was about to join the Ward family, and now it turns out she's not their daughter. All that for nothing."
"Poor Natalie. She was just kicked out of the competition. We thought she had nothing, then she became the great lady of the Ward family, but now she's back to having nothing again."
"I can't believe she’d sell herself that way. It's just so disgusting."
The crowd’s mockery and sneers began to fade into a cold, suffocating white noise.
Her mind could only focus on one thing: she was not a member of the Ward family.
From her initial cautiousness, afraid to accept a happiness that didn't belong to her, she had finally embraced it—the joy of having a family with a mother, a father, and a brother.
And now, to be told it was all a lie… the blow was almost too much for Natalie to bear.
Just then, the world seemed to stop. To everyone’s utter disbelief, Terence stood up—not with a struggle, but with a commanding, lethal grace.
"What? Terence is standing!"
"He can stand again?"
Under the stunned gazes of everyone present, Terence walked resolutely toward Natalie and pulled her into a firm embrace.
