Hearing the two children speak so maturely made Marcus’s heart ache. He wanted to let them stay, but the Lockwood family would never allow it and would just come looking for trouble. His sister was already going through enough; he couldn’t let her be upset any further.
“You’re both good kids, and I wish I could let you stay, but the situation doesn’t allow for it. Go back to the Lockwood estate for now. I’ll have a driver take you back, alright?”
“It’s okay, Uncle. We won’t cause you any trouble. We can get back on our own.”
“Alright, then. Be careful, you two.”
Not long after Lucas and Liana left, Terence and Marie arrived at the Ward residence.
They were stopped at the gate, but Marie yelled out loudly.
“Natalie, bring out Lucas and Liana right now!”
Natalie came outside and saw Terence with Angela, who was even wearing her clothes. The whole thing was so absurd it almost made her laugh out loud.
She was getting a real-life lesson in what it means to be ‘out of sight, out of mind.’ The moment she was gone, this Angela was already wearing her clothes. Could it get any more cliché?
Natalie let out a cold laugh. "Aren't you the precious Miss Everhart? That desperate for clothes that you're already digging through my hand-me-downs?"
Marie knew Natalie was angry about the dress, which was exactly what she wanted.
Marie shot back with a cold laugh, “I’m about to marry Terence. Everything in the Lockwood family will be mine. I can wear whatever I want. On the other hand, some people will never set foot in the Lockwood estate again.”
