Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 238

Charlotte gripped the handrail and looked up at Judd.

“What are you staring at?”

“You know…” She hesitated, then spoke her mind, “You’re not as terrible as people say.”

Judd’s expression darkened slightly, lost in thought.

Assuming he didn’t like others commenting on his personality, she quickly backtracked. “Sorry. I’m talking too much.”

“It’s fine.”

They arrived at the hospital. Gentry spotted them walking in together and raised his eyebrows with a knowing grin. “Well, well, you two... Is there something going on?”

Charlotte nearly choked on her words. “Nothing’s going on. We just happened to come the same way.”

“Oh, just happened to, huh?”

Judd simply grunted, “Yeah, just happened.”

Gentry lost interest in that thread, his excitement shifting as he leaned in conspiratorially. “I just heard something wild. You know the Howard family from the capital, right?”

Charlotte froze for a split second, staring at him.

He didn’t notice, continuing, “One of them came to Riverspire City. Apparently, something happened yesterday—there was an accident at the beltway intersection. Now he’s missing.”

“Missing… what do you mean?” Charlotte asked stiffly.

Judd shot her a look.

“Nobody knows where he is, or how badly he was hurt. But it’s all over social media—the Bentley was totaled.” Gentry pulled up his phone, showing her trending photos.

The front of the Bentley was crumpled beyond recognition, being hauled away by a crane.

The news only mentioned that the car’s occupants were the driver and the Howard family’s heir.

Charlotte stood there, the color draining from her face.

She recalled what she’d said yesterday. For a fleeting moment, she wondered if he really could be dead…

Gentry kept going, “I also heard Mr. Howard came here to look for his wife. Funny thing—I never even knew he was married! No one ever mentioned it. And get this, his mom and my mom are actually cousins, though we’ve never met in person.”
