Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 239

Natalie ended the call and stepped out from the house, pausing by his side. “Mr. Howard, Chairman Lennox does have some connections. Mr. Rayburn arranged for Hiram to be sent to Summitview Wellness Retreat.”

He narrowed his eyes. “Summitview Wellness Retreat?”

Natalie nodded. “I have to say, Mr. Rayburn seems pretty invested in your wife’s situation…”

Evander’s expression didn’t change. He gazed into the emerald green pool, unmoved.

Jonathan’s concern for her was just another form of manipulation.

But what about Wesley…?

The thought of her being with another man made Evander’s chest tighten, his breath catching for a moment. His voice was low and steady: “Prepare the car. We’re going to Summitview.”

“With the way things are between you and Mrs. Howard right now, if you make a move against Hiram…”

He studied her for a long moment, then suddenly let out a short laugh. “Even you think that way. I suppose she would too.”

Natalie lowered her eyes, saying nothing.

“I’ll make it up to her,” he said quietly.

Make it up to her…

Natalie wanted to tell him that apologies that come too late are worth nothing at all.

After Noreen and Charlotte became friends, it became routine for Noreen to drop by Charlotte’s office to invite her out for lunch. Whenever the two of them were together and someone tried to flirt with Charlotte, Noreen always took it upon herself to chase away any unwanted admirers.

That afternoon, the two of them were returning to the surgery wing from the cafeteria, chatting and laughing. As they passed the elevators, the doors slid open. The moment the man inside met Charlotte’s gaze, the stern mask he wore melted into a smile. “Charlotte!”

“Hey! What are you doing?” Charlotte exclaimed.

Noreen, not knowing what was happening, instinctively stepped between them, only to be gently pushed aside by Jonathan. He clasped Charlotte’s shoulder, his voice urgent. “I’ve been looking everywhere for you. So you’re working at this hospital! I’m sorry—for however you treat me, I deserve it, but please, don’t shut me out.”

Noreen rubbed her shoulder, watching the two of them with curiosity.
