Maeve was a little annoyed at being peeled off so quickly.
"Dad, we haven't seen each other in over a year, and you can't even crack a smile?"
She reached up, boldly tugging at Julian's mouth, forcing his lips into a smile.
"Keep wearing that cold face, and one day Mom is going to get sick of you and dump you."
For her insolence, Julian gave her a light smack on the back of the head.
Maeve instantly whined to Serenity.
"Mom, your husband is bullying me again."
Serenity was completely used to this dynamic between the two.
She smiled helplessly and turned to the paralyzed Andres.
"Maeve mentioned you're Sofia's son?"
Hearing his mother's name, Andres finally snapped out of his daze and nodded.
"Ah, yes!"
Serenity smiled. "I haven't seen my dear friend in years. Who would have thought that after all this time, my daughter would end up marrying her son?"
"There's no time like the present. Take me to see Sofia."
Andres's mind was completely scrambled until the moment they arrived at the White Manor.
During the ride back, he and Maeve shared the same car.
She briefly explained why her parents looked the way they did.
"Remember when I told you I tested an experimental drug on my mom?"
"That drug was the Rejuvenation Gene I burned so many brain cells trying to create."
"You've seen my mom. Back then, it was her stunning beauty that completely captivated my dad."
Andres couldn't argue with that.
He finally understood why Julian had such a terrifyingly possessive grip on Serenity.
