"Have a seat. We have business to discuss."
Maeve headed straight for the guest rooms. She shoved the first door open—empty.
She checked the next few doors, but found absolutely nothing.
*No way.*
Was Naomi sleeping in her brother's master bedroom?
Sure enough, the moment she pushed open the door to the master suite, she spotted Naomi fast asleep on the massive bed.
Sitting down on the edge of the mattress, Maeve noticed Naomi's face looked a little thinner than before.
Naomi was a very light sleeper; the slight dip in the mattress jolted her awake.
Seeing Maeve sitting right beside her, Naomi's eyes went wide.
She rubbed her eyes in disbelief. "Maeve? Am I dreaming?"
Maeve reached out and pinched her cheek. "Does that hurt?"
Naomi gasped, the sharp sting pulling her fully into reality. She threw her arms around Maeve in a tight hug.
"Maeve, are you here to rescue me and take me home?"
Maeve raised an eyebrow. "Rescue? Did my brother do something to you?"
Thinking back on the days she'd spent living with Titus, a faint blush crept onto the tips of Naomi's ears.
"He hasn't mistreated me... but don't you think it's completely bizarre that I'm suddenly living here with him?"
Maeve finally seized the chance to interrogate her. "Ever since my brother abducted you, your phone has been completely unreachable."
Naomi groaned at the mention of her phone.
"Titus confiscated it."
"Why on earth would he take your phone?"
"He claims the radiation is bad for the baby."
"My brother actually said something that idiotic?" Maeve asked incredulously.
