Divorce Failed My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 263

Molly felt her blood surge. Maeve really knew how to make every sentence unbearable.

"My mother used to work for the White family," Molly said tightly. "But she's retired now. And her standing in this family is… not ordinary."

She pointed toward another part of the property. "See that courtyard over there? Mr. White gave it to my mother as a gift while he was alive."

"Strictly speaking, she's become part of the White family, with permanent residency rights."

"And as for me…"

Molly lifted her chin. "I'm the CEO of the Grand Horizon Hotel."

"When Mr. White was alive, he spoiled me like a daughter. He said the White family has countless businesses."

"He worried Mr. Andres wouldn't be able to shoulder everything alone, so he wanted me to help him carry some of the load."

"We're family. And we go way back. How could I watch him struggle alone when he was so young?"

"And if we're talking about Mr. Andres and me as kids…" Molly's eyes took on a deliberate gleam. "We've been through so much together…"

She wanted Maeve to understand it clearly: she and Andres had history. Childhood closeness. A bond an outsider couldn't possibly compete with.

Maeve slowed to a stop and looked her up and down, like she was assessing a puzzle box she'd already solved.

Molly didn't expect someone Maeve's age to have such a sharp, almost predatory gaze.

"W-What are you looking at?"

For a second, it felt to Molly as if the air had gone cold.

Maeve lifted a hand and brushed at Molly's shoulder. "There was a little bug on you. I helped you get rid of it."

Molly jerked back two steps. "I don't need you pretending to be friendly."

Maeve smiled—just slightly wrong around the edges. "You're working awfully hard to prove you and Andres are inseparable childhood sweethearts. Is this your way of warning me to stay away from him?"
