Divorce Failed My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 292

Andres only found out later that Maeve and Parker Sterling—the president of Aethelburg University—went way back.

As last year's standout graduate, Maeve had been the kind of candidate every elite program tried to poach.

Parker, banking on a little old friendship with Maeve's adoptive father, practically begged—dramatic and relentless—for Maeve to choose Aethelburg.

He told her she could name her conditions.

Maeve did. And she did it without mercy.

She demanded a full year off—then she'd think about attending classes in year two.

Parker nearly had a heart attack, but to keep her, he swallowed his pride and agreed.

It helped that Maeve had prepared enough "medical documentation" to shut the administration up completely.

Now that Maeve had actually asked him for something, Andres had no reason to refuse.

"Don't worry," he said. "I'll take care of it."

After putting Renfield through hell for days, the anger in Andres had finally dulled.

Then he asked, almost casually, "Maeve… that year you took off—were you really sick?"

From where he sat, she looked healthy. Color in her face. Clear eyes. No sign of weakness.

Maeve brushed it aside. "Something happened before I enrolled. It's fine now."

Andres knew her well enough to hear the translation: it hadn't been minor at all.

"Do you want me to schedule a full workup with the medical team at the estate?" he offered.

Maeve shot him a glance. "I had a physical not long ago. Everything's normal. Having a baby won't be a problem."

The implication landed cleanly: if there was a problem, it certainly wasn't on her end.

In the front, Hans and Murray both had to fight not to laugh out loud. They'd figured it out—Miss Vance was the one person who could keep Mr. Andres in check.

Andres cleared his throat, covering his embarrassment.

"Whether we have a child… that's fate," he said. "If it's meant to happen, it will."
