Divorce Failed My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 357

Maeve's little scheme ended up giving the staff at Azure Bay an unexpected treat at dinner.

Andres was completely, utterly impressed.

While Maeve sat at her vanity blow-drying her hair, he wrapped his arms around her from behind, holding her like she was something precious he couldn't quite believe he had.

"Maeve… when you admitted our relationship in front of Natalia—was that how you really feel?"

Natalia was infuriating, but Andres couldn't deny it: he'd gotten something out of the exchange.

Maeve met his eyes through the mirror.

"Most people who know us already think we're dating and living together, don't they?"

Only a handful knew they were actually married.

And those few were people Maeve trusted.

Maybe it was the mood, maybe it was the heat of the night, but Andres asked anyway, voice low.

"Then from the time we started living together until now… have you ever truly liked me?"

Maeve smiled, a little helpless.

"Whitty, we're adults. There's no point in asking that. What is 'liking' someone even worth? It's not like it pays the bills or keeps you alive."

"Since the beginning of time, the lovers who swear they'll love each other forever—how do those stories usually end?"

Andres knew exactly what she meant.

"I understand. I know what you're afraid of."

He knew vows could be empty—yet he still wanted to hear something, anything, from her lips.

Maeve's smile softened.

"I'm not really afraid of anything."

"When a man and a woman are together, it's either sex or love. Everything else is just people nitpicking."

Besides, she didn't have the energy to waste her life on romance and feelings.

This version of Maeve made Andres feel like he was trying to hold onto sand—the harder he clenched, the more slipped through his fingers.

He took her hand, holding it tightly, his gaze steady and earnest.
