Landon and Nevaeh didn't believe it.
They couldn't.
A man as proud as Andres wouldn't bend to a woman this domineering.
Reality slapped them both.
No one could fully understand what was happening inside Andres.
Being demanded—so fiercely, so publicly—to belong to her alone didn't make him feel trapped.
It made him feel chosen.
It made him feel proud.
He looked at her with naked devotion.
"Don't worry, Maeve. Unless I'm dead, I won't do anything that betrays you."
He said it with such sincerity he might as well have been carving it into stone.
Everyone silently gave him credit.
Even Carson—who'd never been fully sold on Andres—found himself thinking: "That man's a warrior."
Carson might've liked Maeve, but he couldn't honestly promise he'd be able to keep every woman in the world at arm's length forever. Their lives were built on social obligations. Some things couldn't be avoided.
Whether Andres could truly keep his word long-term was another question.
But in that moment, in front of everyone, he'd shown his stance.
For that alone, Carson accepted his loss completely.
As the room began to tilt decisively in Andres and Maeve's favor, Landon realized that if he didn't do something—fast—he might be pushed out of this inner circle for good.
Michael, Corbin, Andres—those were key connections for him in the business world.
If he lost them, the Hart family's future would be a slow choke.
Faced with real power, Landon finally lowered his head.
"Andres. What happened tonight—this was my mistake."
"I didn't realize things between you and Miss Vance had progressed to this point."
