Divorce Failed My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 389

Andres's words landed like a bomb.

Maeve had looked like she was casually stacking dice on an empty table, letting everyone get lost in the fun.

But in reality, from the moment the game began, she'd been steering the entire room into her trap.

What made the crowd genuinely uneasy—what made them almost respect her despite themselves—was how effortless she'd made it look. A few placements. A little pattern-building. And she'd built something that could crack a phone open like an egg.

Landon could deny all he wanted now. The chat history and audio were too real to doubt.

He and Nevaeh had come here with dirty intentions—intending to poison people, tear alliances apart, and watch the fallout from a safe distance.

Carson, speechless, lifted his thumb toward Maeve.

He'd started the night merely admiring her. Now he was genuinely in awe.

Andres walked toward Landon, slow and controlled.

He stopped in front of him, held his gaze for a long moment, and then asked quietly, "Why?"

At this point, Landon knew the friendship was dead. Whatever he and Andres had built over the last decade was gone.

His lips curved into a thin, bitter smile. "I didn't lie," he said. "I really was jealous of you—from the first time I met you."

"Back then you kept your head down. You never did anything reckless."

He let out a low breath, as if the memory itself irritated him. "But someone told me that given time… you'd become someone extraordinary. Someone unstoppable."

He pressed a hand to his forehead, as though he could rub the resentment away. "How do I describe it…"

He searched for the right metaphor, then spoke like he was savoring it.

"When you've sat at the top for too long—when you're used to looking down on everyone else…"

His eyes glinted. "It's like watching a sleeping titan you thought you'd suppressed finally wake up and realize its own power."

"And then one day that dragon is standing above the world, worshipped like a god."

He tilted his head. "Andres—if our positions were reversed, would you really sit there and watch someone who used to be beneath you… climb high enough to crush you?"

Andres stared at him like he couldn't comprehend the logic at all. "In nearly ten years of friendship, did I ever try to suppress you? Did I ever attack you?"

Landon's smile drifted, airy and empty. "At this point, none of that matters."
