Divorce Failed My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 406

By 'unnatural,' Murray obviously meant ghosts.

Sylvia, still holding her compass, happened to walk past and answered the question before Maeve could.

"It's just the lingering energy of a few dead stray animals. Nothing severe enough to spawn an evil spirit."

Maeve stepped in her path, her eyes locked onto the compass in Sylvia's hands with genuine admiration.

"An authentic piece from the Han Dynasty. Truly a top-tier artifact."

"Make sure you handle it with care while you're using it; don't ruin its natural energy."

"If you damage it, it'll lose all its value for my collection."

Sylvia's jaw clenched so hard her teeth ground together.

She pulled the compass tightly to her chest. "Don't count your chickens before they hatch. We still don't know who's walking away the winner."

Shooting Maeve a venomous glare, Sylvia stormed off.

Maeve crossed her arms and called out cheerfully to her retreating back.

"You've got less than two hours left with it! Enjoy it while you can!"

All she got in return was Sylvia's cold, rigid back.

"What's so special about that compass?" Andres asked.

"I collect compasses from every historical era. The only one missing from my collection is a Han Dynasty piece," Maeve explained.

Quinn leaned in eagerly. "I've got a few from the Han Dynasty lying around. Take your pick, whichever one you want."

Maeve gave him a side-eye. "I don't want your hand-me-downs."

"Ouch. After everything we've been through, that hurts," Quinn said, feigning heartbreak.

Andres cleared his throat loudly, a clear warning to Quinn to back off. He was Maeve's actual boyfriend here.

Quinn sighed in exasperation.

"Mr. Andres, don't be so territorial. I'm not your competition."

"To me, Maeve is basically my little sister."

"A week ago, I used a talisman to temporarily suppress it."

"That talisman only buys seven days, and time's up. The toxic energy is flooding back in."

"If the layout you guys set up today isn't a permanent fix, you lose the bet."

"Also, a quick reminder: the optimal window is only two hours."

"I'm giving you an hour and a half to do your thing."

"An hour and a half from now, if the courtyard's spiritual energy hasn't visibly improved, you have to step back and give me the last thirty minutes."

Elijah found her demands absurd.

"Don't worry, Miss Vance. It's just a simple layout. We won't need that long. We'll have it done in thirty minutes max."

Quinn snorted. "Thirty minutes from now, don't come crying to the master of the house begging for an extension."

Elijah shot him a death glare.

"Keep dreaming. That's never going to happen."
