Divorce Failed My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 41

Hans zoomed the footage in several times. The symbol came into focus. It wasn't a doodle. It was an occult sigil.

And the color the pen laid down wasn't ordinary ink either. It was a deep, ritual red, the kind that belonged in an old spellbook.

The two men stared at each other for a long beat before Hans finally found his voice.

"So… Miss Vance's little 'thank-you' gift actually saved my life?"

If he hadn't lived it himself, Hans wouldn't have believed it. Pretending he wasn't shaken would've been a lie.

And yet Maeve was barely in her twenties. How could she possibly be capable of something like that?

Andres didn't comment. He kept watching the rest of the footage.

Andres watched Maeve again, from her exchange with Remi to the way she spun that expensive carved sphere on one finger like a party trick, her face unreadable the whole time.

Maeve had no idea that the quick symbol she'd drawn for Hans had sparked a quiet storm.

To keep her from skipping classes again this year, Sterling had set up a custom attendance tracker for her, and he wasn't letting her vanish the way she had last year.

With no choice, Maeve carved out time to show her face on campus, just enough to check in.

Otherwise, the old man would put on a whole performance about her "giving him an early grave."

After the first class ended, Mateo tugged her toward a deserted corner of campus, looking like he was about to reveal state secrets.

"I've got a big piece of inside news. Interested?"

Maeve glanced at him. "Is it that you and Millie are finally announcing your engagement?"

Mateo made a face like he'd just swallowed a bug. "That joke isn't funny."

"I'm not joking. People are saying you two are secretly dating."
