Divorce Failed My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 467

Inside the sterile room, Maeve booted up the diagnostic hardware.

She distributed the seven biological samples Audrey had authorized across the various testing stations.

True to her word, she triggered all seven sequences simultaneously.

As the cellular reactions bloomed under the electron microscopes, a faint smile touched her lips.

Fortunately, the heavy hazmat suit, mask, and goggles concealed her face.

Even with the high-definition cameras, Simon couldn't read her expression.

She hadn't expected Lab C to hand her this specific cocktail of nightmares.

Ebola, Yellow Fever, Dengue, Aedes aegypti...

But the final vial was the real prize.

The R-Virus.

Oh, she didn't just know what it was. She and this particular strain went way back.

Suddenly, Simon's voice blasted through the overhead intercom.

"Maeve, halt all experimental procedures immediately."

"I’m sending a hazmat team in to scrub the room right now. You will be escorted to decontamination."

Maeve glanced up at the nearest speaker.

"I'm halfway through the sequencing. If I abort now, the data corrupts."

She didn't stop moving. Her gloved hands continued rapidly pipetting reagents.

"My rule is simple: once I step into a lab, I don't leave without the results."

Simon gritted his teeth at her stubbornness.

How the hell was he supposed to tell her she was casually playing with a doomsday bug?

A single micro-spill would trigger a catastrophic lockdown.

Audrey couldn't help but interject.

"Boss, her containment unit is rigged with an incineration protocol."

Even if the R-Virus breached, the failsafe would trigger, vaporizing the threat instantly.

A white lab rat had managed to slip out of its enclosure while Maeve's back was turned.

It scrambled across the stainless steel counter, darting straight into the R-Virus staging area.

Simon's voice shook with raw panic.

He slammed the intercom button. "Behind you!"

But the warning was a fraction of a second too late.

The rat's paw splashed directly into an open petri dish of the R-Virus.

Worse, acting on pure instinct, the animal leaned down and licked the contaminated fluid.

It was over.

The absolute worst-case scenario had just triggered.

If that rat made it off the counter and into the vents, the death toll would be catastrophic.

Over the intercom, Maeve barely registered the panic. She was busy logging data on a separate tablet.

Hearing Simon's frantic shout, she didn't even bother to turn around.
