To his surprise, Maeve took the initiative to ask, "Did you guys figure something out?"
Andres looked utterly lost.
His mind was entirely focused on the fact that Maeve hadn't eaten all day; he had no idea what she and Hans were talking about.
"Miss Vance and I were just discussing her livestream," Hans explained.
Andres understood immediately.
Maeve's gaze shifted between the two men for a moment.
"Logically speaking, Hans shouldn't have any memory of that event."
Both men went dead silent.
Maeve's bluntness left them completely unable to formulate a quick response.
They had stumbled upon her hidden secret—was she angry?
Hans desperately tried to organize his thoughts.
"Miss Vance, actually I..."
Maeve smiled.
"Don't worry, I don't blame you."
"After all, even if you told anyone, no one would believe it. We'll just consider Hans an exception."
She shot Andres a meaningful look.
"It's my father's masterpiece. He's protecting me in a way I absolutely despise but am forced to accept."
Andres knew Griffin had to be behind this.
He truly was a fiercely protective father.
It was just a shame the man was a ghost; no matter what resources Andres used, he couldn't track Griffin down.
Andres squeezed her hand.
"As long as you're safe, nothing else matters."
He was beginning to appreciate Griffin's extreme methods.
Not only had all online traces been erased, but the name Maeve Vance had completely faded from the public eye.
It was for the best. It saved them a lot of unnecessary trouble.
After that, neither of them brought the topic up again.
"And when that happens, you'll be forced to beg her for help."
She looked at Andres.
"In Landon's mind, under what circumstances would you ever beg Natalia for anything?"
Andres rubbed his jaw thoughtfully.
"To heal my mother's legs."
Maeve snapped her fingers.
"Exactly!"
"Landon's plan to make her famous is to push her medical skills—no, her Hexcraft—to the absolute limit."
"Whitty, is there some bigshot in Aethelburg who recently fell critically ill?"
Her words hit like a bolt of lightning.
Everything suddenly clicked into place for Andres.
"I think I know exactly what Landon is plotting."
