Divorce Failed My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 481

Maeve's words were a blatant threat to Benjamin Bright. Yet, instead of getting angry, he looked thoroughly amused. "You would never stand by and watch me die," he said with absolute certainty.

"Because in this world, I am the only one left who shares his blood. If I die, you lose your last connection to him."

Maeve's expression remained icy. "People change."

"Others might, but not you," Benjamin replied.

Maeve rested one hand lightly on Benjamin's shoulder, leaning in until her lips were mere inches from his ear. "Just tell me the truth about what happened back then. Do that, and not only will I perform the surgery, but I'll make sure you live a long, healthy life."

"It's the perfect deal for you. You're a businessman, Baldy. You should know which choice yields the best return."

"The truth is," Benjamin countered smoothly, "I really don't know anything."

"Not even afraid of dying?" she asked.

"Everyone is afraid of dying."

"Then tell the truth."

"I have no reason to lie to you. Besides, Charlie was my brother. When he died, it tore me apart just as much as it did you. If I ever find out who pulled the strings behind the scenes, you won't even need to lift a finger. I'll tear them apart myself."

The faint smile vanished from Maeve's lips. "You're a ruthless opportunist. If the price is right, family means absolutely nothing to you."

"If that wasn't true, why have you been hiding from me like a rat in the sewers for the past year? If I hadn't tracked you down, you wouldn't even have the guts to show your face."

When Andres White pushed open the doors to Room 1919 with his security detail in tow, the first thing he saw was Maeve with her arm slung over Benjamin Bright's shoulder. Their heads were bowed together, whispering like a couple sharing intimate secrets.

A fierce spike of jealousy hit Andres like a physical blow. After taking a phone call in Room 1908, he had waited for Maeve to return. When she didn't, he texted her. After a long stretch of silence, he called her phone, only to find it switched off.

Realizing something was wrong, he immediately demanded the club staff pull the security footage. That was when he discovered Maeve had changed into a server's uniform and carried a bottle of wine into Room 1919.

Unwilling to risk her safety for even a second, he had rushed over with his guards. He hadn't expected to kick the door open and find this.

Andres's sudden intrusion sent a wave of tension rippling through the room. Everyone in Benjamin's inner circle knew about the bitter, ongoing corporate war between Spark Industries and the Orca Group.

The social circles surrounding the two billionaires were naturally hostile toward one another. The bad blood stemmed from Benjamin's past attempts to drag Andres into his illicit underworld dealings through underhanded methods.
