Divorce Failed My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 51

Sarah bristled for her friend, eyes blazing with righteous outrage. "Everyone saw it. Anya's face is basically ruined because of you."

Quinn actually laughed. "Are you two always this cheap when you try to set someone up?"

He lifted his chin toward the setup. "We were sitting over here. The dartboard was over there. So explain it to me. What's the physics behind a dart ‘suddenly' flying into this side of the room?"

Did they really think everyone else was stupid?

Michael, to his credit, nodded slightly. Quinn had a point. "Miss Morales… you didn't do it on purpose, did you?"

Anya clapped a hand over her cheek, flustered and tight around the eyes. "I'm the one who got hurt. Why is everyone coming at me?"

Landon turned to his girlfriend. "Sarah. What actually happened just now?"

Sarah put on an innocent face like she didn't know what anyone was talking about. "Maybe Anya's hand slipped. It was an accident."

Quinn's smile turned pointed. "Mr. Andres—what do you think?"

The way Quinn was so openly taking Maeve's side made irritation flicker through Andres's expression.

He swirled the liquor in his glass, unhurried. "Mr. Hayes, what exactly is your relationship with this young lady?"

Quinn arched a brow. "And what's that supposed to mean?"

Andres's gaze stayed lazy, but the message underneath wasn't. "Your relationship affects how I decide to handle this. After all, petty disagreements between women… men shouldn't interfere too much."

The implication couldn't have been clearer.

If Quinn insisted on fighting Maeve's battle, Andres wouldn't refuse him. But only if Quinn was willing to spend social capital—willing to ask him for a favor—for this woman.

Quinn slid one arm around Maeve's shoulders. "Maeve is a very important friend of mine. How important?"

He pretended to think it over, then said solemnly, "Important enough that I'd give my life for her."

Maeve rolled her eyes.

Somehow, Quinn always knew exactly what to say to push things one step closer to disaster.
