It was an open secret in the entertainment industry that Summer and Nevaeh despised each other.
The bad blood traced back to a reality show they filmed years ago. At the time, Summer was just a rising rookie who had secured a spot on the popular program after a breakout hit song. Nevaeh, leveraging her status as a top-tier A-lister, went out of her way to bully her. In the dead of winter, she shoved Summer into a freezing lake, later batting her eyelashes and claiming she had just 'slipped.'
Summer had nearly died from the hypothermia.
The incident caused a massive uproar, but because Summer lacked influence and Nevaeh's PR team flooded the media with cover-up pieces, the whole thing was eventually swept under the rug.
Over the years, Summer's status in the industry skyrocketed, and her massive fanbase now directly rivaled Nevaeh's. Recently, Apex Group had tapped Summer and her close friend Aria to co-endorse a new health supplement line. The contract was worth tens of millions of dollars.
Nevaeh flashed a smug, self-satisfied smile. "I have a magical feeling you won't be signing that contract today."
Everyone in the circle knew she was one of Benjamin Bright's favored companions. With his backing, Nevaeh was utterly confident Donovan wouldn't dare back out on his promise to give her the deal.
Summer abruptly stood up. "The paperwork is finalized. The only thing missing is Mr. Yarrow's signature. If you're predicting we won't sign, what kind of shady backroom deal did you pull?"
Nevaeh rolled her eyes. "Little girl, don't be so paranoid."
Summer sneered, utterly repulsed by the woman's arrogance. "Speaking of paranoia, nobody schemes harder than you. You've destroyed the careers of at least a dozen women in this industry."
The insult hit a nerve. Nevaeh's face twisted in fury, and she stepped forward, slapping Summer hard across the face.
Summer, never one to take a hit lying down, instantly backhanded Nevaeh with twice the force.
Nevaeh clutched her cheek in shock. "You hit me?"
Summer mirrored her pose. "Didn't you just hit me?"
Summer wasn't the helpless rookie she used to be. If Nevaeh thought she could still throw her weight around, she needed a serious reality check. Summer's loyal fanbase would tear her apart.
