Maeve replied with absolute sincerity.
"Because I'm a growing girl."
Silas was speechless.
To ensure the "growing" Maeve had enough to eat and drink, he had the waiter bring over a few more plates of meat.
He figured he might as well let her eat to her heart's content.
It was late autumn, and the temperature in Aethelburg had dropped significantly.
Compared to the freezing air outside, the restaurant was as warm as spring.
Maeve's cheeks were flushed from the heat of the food.
She was already incredibly beautiful, but veiled in the steam of the food, her radiant complexion was simply breathtaking.
For a brief moment, Silas was completely mesmerized by her.
Sensing his burning gaze, she looked up.
"What are you staring at?"
He took a sip of his drink to cover his awkwardness.
Then he felt his reaction was childish and ridiculous.
"Nothing. I just think that as a girl, you're quite charming."
"So don't go falling in love with me," Maeve deadpanned.
Silas rolled his eyes.
"In my heart, we'll always be brothers tearing through the trenches together."
"Besides, who's the older one here? By age, I'm definitely older than you."
She couldn't be bothered to bicker over such trivial details.
"I'll take the tickets you gave me, but as for whether I can actually make it tomorrow, it's highly unlikely."
"I have my own competition to attend at the same venue."
"The Intelligent Competition. I have to make an appearance on behalf of Aethelburg University."
His eyes instantly lit up.
"What a coincidence!"
"What time is your event?"
