So why was Maeve the only one experiencing 'technical difficulties'?
According to her friend, her exhibit was sabotaged and couldn't be shown.
If she couldn't even protect her own project, what right did she have to be there?
In his VIP room, Barton watched the scene unfold with great interest.
This girl who had caught his eye twice seemed to be in trouble.
Over at Lab C, Nancy let out a scornful laugh.
"Simon, is this the girl you like? All style, no substance."
Simon's eyes darkened, ignoring his sister's mockery.
His instincts and experience told him that when Maeve was cornered, her explosive retaliation was terrifying.
The most anxious person of all was Andres.
He demanded of Hans, "What is going on?"
Hans looked utterly confused.
"I have no idea."
This didn't fit Miss Vance's style at all.
"Call Murray. Tell him to go help her," Andres ordered.
Hans frantically dialed Murray's number, but it went completely unanswered.
The internet was already swamped with doubts and mockery directed at Maeve.
Maeve remained calm, but Elena was panicking.
"Everyone, please listen to me. The situation is..."
Just as Elena was about to explain the whole story, Maeve patted her shoulder and stepped in front of her.
"The robot has a slight malfunction. Before it gets fixed, I will showcase another project."
Elena was stunned.
Another project?
What was going on?
Raising her arm, Maeve snapped her fingers toward the crowd.
While speaking, Maeve fully removed the helmet's packaging.
She swept her gaze over the gathered crowd.
"Would anyone like to experience the fun this Dream Helmet brings?"
The audience exchanged confused glances.
The host pressed, "Miss, could you explain exactly what this helmet is meant to do?"
Maeve replied, "If I must give a reason for its existence, I'd say it allows people to experience both mental and physical adventures while remaining in a perfectly safe environment."
The crowd looked baffled, clearly not grasping her meaning.
Suddenly, a guy in his early twenties raised his hand.
"Is that thing a virtual reality gaming headset?"
Everyone turned toward him. He had a crutch tucked under his arm.
Though he wasn't in a wheelchair, it was obvious he had a physical disability.
Instead of answering, Maeve challenged him, "You can come up here and find out for yourself."
