Divorce Failed My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 796

Maeve scoffed. "Even if I didn't have your precious platform, do you really think my invention wouldn't find a market?"

Barton countered smoothly. "Without the hundreds of thousands of live viewers we generated, do you honestly believe your work would have exploded into the mainstream this quickly?"

Maeve let out a dark laugh. "Gold shines no matter where you bury it."

Barton raised an eyebrow. "So you're really not going to give us a single chance?"

Her tone was absolute. "Exactly."

Barton rubbed his jaw, studying her. "I want a reason for this rejection."

Maeve shot a glance at the assistant standing rigidly behind Barton. "I thought your assistant already explained it to you."

Barton shifted his gaze to his employee. "Did you?"

Lee looked absolutely terrified. "M-Mr. Grover, I genuinely thought Miss Vance was just making a joke!"

Barton's voice dropped. "And what exactly was this joke?"

Lee coughed awkwardly, sweating profusely. "Miss Vance said she refused to sign with us because... because Miss Grover is a massive eyesore."

A suffocating silence descended over the room. Luka glared at Maeve, his eyes screaming that she must have a death wish to openly insult the Grover family's precious daughter.

Barton's brow twitched. "You have a prejudice against my sister?"

She turned her piercing gaze back to Barton. "Go back and tell your sister to learn some self-respect. Tell her to stop coveting things that will never belong to her. I have a terrible temper, and I don't share what's mine. If she lacks the brain cells to back off and tries to steal my man again, don't blame me when I slap her across the face in public."

As she brushed past Barton toward the door, she paused and tossed a final comment over her shoulder. "As for collaborating, it's not entirely impossible. If you show me some actual sincerity, I might seriously consider it."

Barton didn't turn around, but his voice was sharp. "What exactly is your definition of sincerity?"

Maeve smiled, looking like a little demon drenched in pure malice. "Make your sister disappear from the face of the earth."

Barton's expression darkened into a scowl. "That is an utterly unreasonable demand."

Maeve patted his shoulder mockingly. "See? I gave you a chance, but you were just too incompetent to grasp it."
