The rowdy men completely dismissed Maeve's warning.
One of them shot her a menacing glare.
"If you don't want to end up looking as ugly as her, keep your nose out of our business."
Their rampant arrogance actually made Maeve laugh.
"I'm genuinely curious. In a venue packed with surveillance cameras, how exactly are you going to end me?"
With one hand, she effortlessly hoisted the trembling Sarah off the floor.
Before the men could lunge at her, she issued a chilling command.
"Go back and tell your master that carrying too much blood on his hands is going to trigger a severe backlash."
"His bankruptcy crisis was only temporarily lifted. What he needs to do right now is lie low and start accumulating some good karma."
The cryptic, hyper-specific warning instantly paralyzed the aggressive thugs.
They exchanged a deeply uneasy glance before staring intensely at Maeve.
Turning back to Sarah, they spat out one last threat: "Watch your back when you walk alone at night."
With their final words delivered, the group practically sprinted out of the restaurant.
Maeve casually plucked a few napkins from the table and handed them over.
"Wipe your face."
Sarah's hair was a tangled mess, and she looked thoroughly battered.
A girl who had been spoiled her entire life was now the center of scandalous whispers in a crowded dining hall.
Her hands shaking, Sarah took the napkins from Maeve and gently dabbed at her bruised cheeks.
She never imagined that Maeve, a girl she had viciously targeted in the past, would be the one to save her in a crisis.
A whirlwind of complex emotions churned in her chest.
"Sarah, are you okay?"
Sarah's friend stumbled over, clutching her swollen, bright red cheek.
The poor girl had been dealt a terrible hand, suffering collateral damage simply for sitting next to Sarah.
"I just got off the phone with the police. Those bastards aren't going to get away with this."
Having finished touching up her makeup in the restroom, Audrey finally walked over to Maeve.
"What's going on?"
Maeve had almost entirely forgotten Audrey was even there.
"Nothing major. Just watched a little drama unfold."
Sarah was left utterly speechless.
Even in a moment like this, Maeve managed to be incredibly abrasive.
