Divorce Failed My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 837

Barely two minutes after Maeve strolled through the doors of Azure Bay, Andres arrived right behind her.

The timing was nearly seamless.

Having completely forgotten the lingering tension from their lunch, Maeve offered him a casual, elegant greeting.

"What a coincidence, I just got back myself."

She tossed her coat to a waiting maid, plucked a fresh orange from the fruit bowl, and headed for the stairs.

Peeling the fruit as she walked, she completely ignored the storm brewing on Andres's face.

Munching on the orange, she wandered into her bedroom and was halfway to the bathroom when Andres materialized in front of her, blocking her path.

"Maeve, don't you have anything you want to tell me?"

Shoving another slice of fruit into her mouth, she chewed lazily. "Like what?"

Knowing she absolutely despised people beating around the bush, Andres tore off the band-aid.

"Last Wednesday, did you meet with Nancy Grover?"

Maeve had never once doubted Andres's terrifying investigative skills.

"Yeah, I saw her."

Andres was genuinely startled by how effortlessly she confessed.

"What was the purpose of the meeting?"

"She slid a check across the table and told me to take the hint and dump you," Maeve replied.

The answer threw Andres completely off balance.

"And you refused?"

Maeve shot him an exaggerated eye roll.

"Duh. She thought she could buy me off with some measly money? She's absolutely delusional."

"If she wanted to buy me out, she should have at least offered a price that would make my heart flutter."

"Given your staggering net worth, lowballing the offer just insults your status."

"If she hadn't been so cheap and dropped a few tens of billions on the table, I might have actually considered it."

Andres couldn't decide whether he wanted to strangle her or laugh.

"You'd sell me out without a second thought?"

Maeve popped the final slice of orange into her mouth.

"People die chasing wealth; birds die chasing food."

Raking her eyes over his face, she let out a dramatic sigh.
