Griffin cast one final glance toward Nancy and issued a low command to Benjamin. "Until I give the word, she is not allowed to die."
Thinking of his half-brother's horrific end, Benjamin gritted his teeth. "But Charlie—"
A single, glacial look from Griffin silenced him. Benjamin had no idea why Griffin was so dead-set on keeping Nancy alive, but against a true apex predator, absolute obedience was his only option.
Before leaving, Griffin turned to Andres. "Send that woman back to the Grovers. I'm taking Maeve home."
Andres assumed Griffin would pull Maeve out of Aethelburg completely, but to his surprise, they headed straight back to Azure Bay. After ensuring the party's chaotic aftermath was handled, Andres followed them home.
Seeing Maeve lying unconscious in bed, completely exhausted and battered, Andres couldn't mask the deep anxiety in his eyes. "Is she going to be alright?"
Griffin pulled the covers over her, gently wiping the blood and grime from her face with a damp cloth. "She's not dying anytime soon. But if she keeps pushing her luck when she wakes up, even I won't be able to save her."
Andres had a thousand questions burning in his chest, but he had no idea where to even begin.
Griffin glanced up at him. "I know you have a lot of questions. I'll make time to tell you everything you want to know, but not right now."
Tucking the blanket securely around his sleeping daughter, Griffin let out a faint sigh. "Take good care of her. I have business to attend to. I'll be gone for two days."
"Until I return, do not let her out of your sight. That little brat's head is completely consumed with revenge; as long as Nancy is breathing, she won't stop."
